Motion graphics

Motion graphics services

Titles, explainers, animated data, and full brand systems in motion. Built to your typeface and palette rather than a stock template, by a team that also shoots, so the graphics fit the footage.

The studio

Graphics that look like they belong to you

The fastest way to make a video look cheap is to finish it with somebody else’s template.

Most motion graphics arrive as a preset with the client’s logo dropped in. The typeface is not yours, the easing is whatever came with the plugin, and the color is approximately your brand rather than actually it. Viewers cannot articulate any of that, but they register the result as generic, which is the opposite of what a brand pays for. Color grading and audio post are covered on their own page.

We build from your brand system: real typeface, real palette, real spacing rules, and motion that behaves consistently across every piece. Titles, lower thirds, transitions, animated charts, and end cards designed once as a kit, so the next video and the one after that already have somewhere to start.

Because we shoot as well as animate, the graphics are designed against real footage rather than a grey placeholder. That sounds minor and it is the difference between a title that sits in the frame and one that fights it: contrast against the actual background, position that respects the actual composition, timing that matches the actual cut.

What we produce

Motion graphics services

01

Animated explainers

Sixty to ninety seconds that make a complicated product make sense. Script, storyboard, design, animation, and voiceover, produced as one job rather than farmed out in pieces.

02

Titles and lower thirds

A reusable kit: opening titles, name straps, chapter cards, and end cards, built to your brand rules so every future video starts from a consistent place.

03

Animated data and charts

Figures that move in a way the audience can follow. Essential for financial, healthcare, and research content where the number is the story and a static slide kills it.

04

Brand motion systems

How your brand behaves when it moves: timing, easing, transitions, and logo animation, documented so any future supplier can match it rather than reinventing it.

05

3D and product animation

Products, mechanisms, and environments rendered and animated when filming them is impossible, impractical, or would not show what matters.

06

Graphics for existing footage

A motion graphics pass on video you already have. Often the cheapest way to make an existing library look current without reshooting any of it.

Getting it right

What separates custom from template

Six things decide whether motion graphics read as bought-in or built-for-you. Every one of them is a decision, not a budget line.

01

Your actual typeface

Not the closest free substitute. Type is the single strongest brand signal in motion, and a near-miss font is more noticeable than most people expect.

02

Motion with a personality

Easing and timing are to a brand what tone of voice is to copy. Sharp and mechanical, or soft and unhurried, applied consistently, is what makes separate videos feel like one company.

03

Designed against real footage

Graphics built over a grey placeholder routinely fail against the actual shot. Contrast, position, and legibility have to be judged on the frame they will live on.

04

Legible at the size people watch

Most viewing happens on a phone or a browser window, not a monitor. If a chart label cannot be read at that size it is decoration, not information.

05

Built as a reusable kit

A one-off title costs the same as the first title in a system. Building it as a kit means the next ten videos start with the work already done.

06

Handover files that work

Project files, fonts, and a short usage note delivered at the end. You should never be locked into one supplier because nobody else can open the file.

Pricing

What motion graphics cost

Motion graphics pricing comes down to how much is designed from scratch and how much is animated once and reused.

These are the ranges our motion work lands in as a standalone service. Graphics produced inside a full video production are quoted within that production.

$0$5k$10k$15k$20k$25k+
Titles and lower-thirds kit$1,000 – $3,500
Animated explainer, 60-90 seconds$5,000 – $15,000
Brand motion system or series$15,000 and up

Building a kit rather than a one-off is what moves you left permanently. The first explainer carries the design cost; the second and third reuse the system and land at a fraction of it.

01

$1,000 to $3,500

A kit, not a one-off Opening titles, lower thirds, chapter cards, and an end card built to your brand rules, delivered with project files so every future video can reuse them.

02

$5,000 to $15,000

A full explainer Script, storyboard, custom design, animation, voiceover, and sound design for a 60 to 90 second piece. The range depends on illustration density and whether 3D is involved.

03

$15,000 and up

A system or a series A documented motion identity, or several animated pieces sharing one design language. The per-piece cost drops sharply once the system exists.

Designers who work next to a camera

Our motion team sits in the same building as the crews and the editors, which is why the graphics fit the footage instead of being applied to it. You get a designer and a producer, project files at the end, and no dependency on us for the next round.

FAQ

Motion graphics questions

What are motion graphics, exactly?

Design that moves. Titles, lower thirds, animated charts, logo animation, transitions, and fully animated explainers. It is distinct from live action because nothing is filmed, and distinct from 3D animation because it is usually built in two dimensions.

How long does an animated explainer take?

Four to six weeks for a 60 to 90 second piece: roughly a week on script and storyboard, a week on design, two on animation, and a final week for voiceover, sound, and revisions. Faster is possible when the script is already signed off.

Can you work from our brand guidelines?

Yes, and we prefer to. Send the guidelines, fonts, and logo files and we will build to them. If no motion rules exist yet, we will propose them and document what we create so it is reusable.

What if we do not have brand guidelines?

Common, and not a problem. We will work from your website and existing materials to establish type, palette, and spacing, then write down what we decided so future work stays consistent.

Do you write the script and provide voiceover?

Yes to both. Script, storyboard, and professionally recorded voiceover are all in scope. Most explainers fail at the script stage rather than the animation stage, so we start there.

Can you add graphics to video we already have?

Yes, and it is one of the highest-return things you can do with an existing library. A motion pass on old footage often makes it usable for another year without reshooting anything.

Do we get the project files?

Yes. Project files, fonts, and a short usage note are handed over at the end. You should never be locked into one supplier because nobody else can open the work.

What is the difference between motion graphics and 3D animation?

Motion graphics are typically 2D: type, shapes, charts, and illustration. 3D animation builds and lights objects in three-dimensional space, which is what you want for products, mechanisms, and environments. We do both and will tell you which the job actually needs.

How many revisions are included?

Two rounds as standard, at storyboard and at first animation. The storyboard round matters most: changing a structure on paper takes an hour, and changing it after animation takes days.

Is there a minimum project size?

No. A titles and lower-thirds kit starting around $1,000 is a common first job, and it is often the most useful one because everything afterwards reuses it.

Which markets do you cover?

Motion graphics work is location-independent and we take clients everywhere. Our offices are in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Washington DC, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Miami.
